Bridges Mentoring Program and North Iowa Community Action have partnered together with the assistance from United Way of North Central Iowa to give our kids a better chance at success.

Bridges Mentoring Program began in March 1999 and now has 70 mentors matched with children in the Osage, St. Ansgar and Riceville school districts. Children of all ages--kindergarten through high school-- are served by Bridges.  Youth in the program must be school age and they must attend school in one of the three communities served.

Referrals for mentoring come from several places, mainly schools and guidance counselors but can come from parents and guardians as well.  Once a referral is made and permission from guardians is gained, a representative of Bridges will meet with your child and he or she will do their best to match your child with a mentor. Your child and their mentor will meet at least once per week.  Some activities that mentors do with their mentees include going to the library, going for a walk, going to the park, or just  chatting  and visiting!

Bridges is committed to children and their long term success; mentoring is a long term commitment.
