Head Start

Head Start provides a caring environment and comprehensive early childhood development services for children between the ages of three and five, including those with disabilities, whose family income levels are at or below 100% of the federal poverty level. Twenty-eight classrooms serve more than 320 children and their families each year in North Iowa. Contact the Head Start Administrative Offices for more information about donations.

The Adopt-A-Child Program
Meets the needs of Head Start children who do not have warm coats, snow pants, boots, hats, or mittens for winter weather in North Iowa by donations of clothing or cash gifts to purchase suitable garments for eligible children.
Classroom Needs increase each year. Current funding provides only for essentials. Program enhancements, classroom supplies and new curriculum materials improve children’s outcomes.

Emergency Financial Assistance is available to qualified individuals and families during crisis situations and to address barriers to self-sufficiency. Donated funds are used to defray the impact of past-due utility bills, the cost of deliverable fuel, and to meet emergency shelter and housing needs when no other available assistance is available. Financial assistance is paid directly to landlords or utility companies and recipients may be asked to participate in a repayment plan for funds received.  For more information about donations, suggestions, and needs, or if you just have any questions, please contact Barbara Kellogg at 641-423-8993.
