2011 Public Health Partnership Award
In celebration of National Public Health week April 7-13, 2011 the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health announces the recipient of the 8th Annual Public Health Partnership Award. The award was presented during the March 11 th Board of Health meeting.
The Public Health Partnership Award is given annually in conjunction with National Public Health Week to an individual, business or organization that has done something to improve or enhance the health of our community.
This year's award was presented to Lisa Koppin, Health Services Coordinator for North Iowa Community Action Organization.
“Lisa Koppin and North Iowa Community Action Organization has been a partner with Public Health for many years,” said Ron Osterholm, Health Director at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health.
“In partnership, she provides the Health Department with lead tests and nutritional counseling through the childhood lead poisoning program; refers clients to the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and collaborates HIV/STD services to area residents by ensuring testing services are offered to residents outside of our testing guidelines,” said Osterholm.
“In addition, Lisa sends quarterly reports and attends board of health meetings throughout the year to share updates on programs and services the North Iowa Community Action Organization manages. Along with her staff at North Iowa Community Action Organization, she has demonstrated the true meaning of the Public Health Partnership Award. This partnership is valued and the professional expertise is a benefit to the Health Department and the residents of Cerro Gordo County ,” states Osterholm.
